Hi, I’m Maya.
I’m a German photographer with a love for honest moments, quiet observations and photographs that feel like memories rather than perfectly staged images.
Photography for me has always been about noticing the little things. The way someone reaches for another hand, a look that lasts only for a second, movement, laughter or all those moments happening somewhere in between. These are usually the photographs I come back to the most.
WHY FILM
I first discovered film photography in 2019, and over time, it became a big part of the way I see and photograph the world. These days, whenever I photograph just for myself, I reach for film. I love that film asks you to slow down. You cannot immediately check the result or take the same photograph endlessly. Every frame feels a little more intentional, while at the same time leaving room for something unexpected.
MY APPROACH
That feeling has also shaped the way I work digitally. I don’t want every image to feel perfect or overly polished. I want photographs to feel alive — natural, intimate and true to the people in them.
When I photograph a wedding, a couple or a family, my aim is to give you enough guidance to feel comfortable while still leaving space for things to happen naturally. You don’t have to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. Most of the time, the best photographs happen when you forget about it for a moment.
In the end, I hope to create photographs that bring you back not only to how something looked, but to how it felt.
